TiNyiko’s Song. A compelling story of courage. Inspired in Shongwe.

Cover 2 with texta

A novel of suspense and drama set in contemporary South Africa.

TiNyiko, a young girl living in a poor rural village and struggling to overcome her brutal past, finds herself a contestant in an international reality singing competition that offers her all the trappings of wealth and fame. With each step of her journey she faces yet another challenge and must draw on her deep spiritual strength to confront the demons of her past and the exploits of an unscrupulous producer bent on destroying her.

McKibbin writes a compelling novel based on actual case studies encountered while she worked in Mpumalanga, South Africa. With strong attention to detail, she illustrates the inner struggles of each character, allowing you to experience, with stark reality, a series of events that actually took place – until the climax is reached with a surprising ending that will leave you captivated.

This is a book that will resonate with you long after the final chapter.

Jim Jam Holiday Club Mon 29 June – 3 July, 09:00 – 13:30. Fun Fun Fun

Introducing Jim Jam. An inspiring opportunity for people to engage and lift up the young people of Alexandra during the coming holidays. Lets learn a little bit more about it from Nina, a BBC congregant, and the volunteer facilitator of Jim Jam.

What is JimJam?

JIM JAM is a holistic Bible based children’s ministry in Alexandra that meets every Wednesday afternoon between 3-5pm and aims to teach children, ages 2 through 12, the Word of God as a foundation for their lives. This is accomplished through weekly Bible teachings, songs, activities and personal relationships. The children are encouraged to have fun. Another aspect of the ministry is to teach life skills (i.e.  hygiene, fire safety).

The name JIM JAM is an acronym, which stands for Jesus In Me and Jesus And Me. This name was chosen to demonstrate that Jesus cares for us in all our situations and that:

  • He can be in us and guide us, through the workings of the Holy Spirit
  • He can also be beside us as a friend. We are never alone with Him in our lives.

JIM JAM was started in October 2002 to minister to the HIV/Aids orphans of Alexandra Township in South Africa. The need for the ministry was identified when Rosebank Union Church was assisting Abangani Enkosini (an Alexandra based ministry) with their HIV/Aids home base care. JIM JAM  has continued to serve the Alexandra community.  Each week there is food, songs and activities and 300-350 orphaned, vulnerable and underprivileged children participate. Additionally, there is an annual Christmas party and summer holiday club during the first week of the June/July school holidays.

2015 Holiday Club

This year’s Winter holiday club is from Mon 29 June to Friday 3 July, from 9am – 1:30pm.

It will take place at 3-square Sports Centre in Alexandra township – just 15 mins from heart of Sandton.

The theme for this year is The Armour of God.

How you could get involved:

  • Cover us in prayer : we need lots of prayer support!
  • Volunteer: this could be once off, daily for an hour, daily for the whole morning – whatever time you can give.
  • We need: small group leaders, coordinators, people to do the skits, musicians, drivers, general helpers!
  • Donate money (to be used for craft items, food for snack time and cooked lunch, equipment)
